Enable Network Discovery on Windows 10

  1. Open the Windows 10 Settings app from the Start menu. (the gear shaped icon on the left, bottom side of the menu).
  2. Click “Network & Internet”
  3. If you are on a wireless connection, click “Wi-Fi” from the list of options on the left, or “Ethernet” if you’re using a wired connection.
  4. Click on the link that says “Change advanced sharing settings”, under a heading “Related settings”. The link is small, and you may need to scroll the page down to see it.
  5. In the window that appears, expand the “Private” heading and set the following settings:
    1. “Network discovery” should be turned on.
    2. “Turn on automatic setup of network connected devices” should be checked.
    3. “File and printer sharing” should be enabled, if you want other computers and users to be able to access files and printers shared from your computer.
  6. Click the “Save Changes” button at the bottom of the screen and close the Settings window.
